Nayanthara was born on 8th November 1984 as an Orthodox Syrian Christian in Tiruvalla, Pathanamthitta District, Kerala. She did her schooling at various parts of India (Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta, Punjab and Karnataka) as her father was an Air Force Official. She joined Balikamadom High School, Thiruvalla for +2, then joined Marthoma college in Thiruvalla for her bachelors degree (English Literature). While at college, she was chosen by director Satyan Anthikkad and was cast opposite Jayaram in Mansinakkare. After that, she acted a sister character along side Mohanlal in Naatturajaavu and also played a ghost who falls in love with the hero Mohanlal in Fazil's Vismayathumbathu. She played heroine to Malayalam Megastar Mammootty in super hit movies Thaskaraveeran (Dubbed into Tamil as Yuvaraj) and Raapakal.She played opposite Sarath Kumar in Ayya. She acted with Rajnikanth in Chandramukhi. Her later films are Natturaajavu (Malayalam), Thaskaraveeran (Malayalam), Vallavan (Tamil), Gajini (Tamil), Yogi (Telugu) etc. She is now busy in the Tamil & Telugu film industry.


Ambitious and hardworking, Nayanthara entered the tinsel world debuting in the Malayalam film 'Manassinakkare'(2003), directed by Sathyan Anthikad opposite Jayaram. The Kerala-born Christian girl from Tiruvalla, whose real name is Diana Kurien, had completed her B.A. Literature and was doing her Chartered Accountancy when films beckoned her. Her striking appearance and acting talent was appreciated by the Kerala audience. The huge commercial success of 'Manassinakkare' helped her career in a big way.

Then came her second film, 'Vismayathumbath'(2004) by Fazil, with super star Mohanlal. Though the film did not fare well at the box office, Nayanthara became a notable actress in Kerala film industry. Her pretty looks captured the attention of Malayalam film buffs. Eventually it paved her way to Tamil films.

Nayan is a self confident person and is always found calm. The pretty actress stepped into Tamil films with 'Ayya' (2005) where Sarat Kumar was her hero. Her second release in Tamil was the much awaited 'Chandramukhi' where she paired with superstar Rajnikanth. Strangely her pairings initially have all been with senior heroes. In between she came back to the Malayalam industry with two films Thaskaraveeran (2005) and Raapakal (2005) where Mammootty was her hero.

After crossing the border from Malayalam to other languages, she changed her 'seedha sadha' image and started taking up glamorous roles. Nayanthara and Simbu's intimate life-sized posters in 'Vallavan' (2006)created shock waves in Chennai. Similar excitement resulted when glamorous posters of 'Kalvanin Kadhali' were posted all over Chennai. Her maiden Telugu film 'Lakshmi'(2006) made a big splash at the box office. The same year she also acted in another Telugu movie 'Boss' (2006) opposite Nagarjuna in which she rocked Tollywood with her sexy outfits.

In the year 2007, her biggest blockbuster in Tamil was 'Billa' with Ajith in the lead. She also acted in the movie 'Yaradhi Nee Mohini' with Dhanush as a hero and Jawahar as the director, which was released in the year 2008.

Nayantara is one of the very few actresses, who can strike a balance between glamour and homely roles in movies. She played the role of a household girl in films like 'Manassinakkare', 'Ayya' and 'Chandramukhi'. However in contrast, she took to glamour and enthralled film-buffs in E, Thalaimagan, Vallavan, Billa and Tulsi . She is keen on doing a role in an off-beat movie and would like to dub in her own voice for the film.

Her versatile performance and immense dancing skills has won a lot of hearts and career wise she is riding high in South Indian films. This glamour queen has become one of the busiest as well as the highest paid actresses in the Southern film industry today.

How come you’ve been keeping a low profile these days?
I’ve been busy with work. I’m trying to focus more on the films that I’m working, working out the details of my look, my clothes and character.

Do you feel insecure at times? How can I be insecure when I don’t have time to breathe?
Insecurity stems from the kind of person that you are and thank God, I’m a happy person. Two films- one with Venkatesh and the other with Ravi Teja is keeping me busy. My Yogi released last week is doing extremely well at the box office.

Has the film industry made you a tough person?
Yes, to a certain extent. Being an actress is not easy. Everything in show business happens in a flash. If your films do well, everybody is at your doorstep and if a film flops no one bothers to call you up. That’s the way it is and no one can change it. Film industry makes you mature, smart and tough.

Do you feel like giving it up all?
(Laughs) Not now. Time is yet to come when I should think and answer this question. Rigt now, I am enjoying my work. Will you slash your price for a good film? Why not? I have done that in the past and I’ve always said that I want to do good films. Who according to you is hot in the film industry? I don’t have an answer for that. I think everyone is hot in their own way. What happens if stardom vanishes one day? It has to happen one day. I am intelligent enough to think that a heroine career is short lived. I will remain a happy person like what I am now, even if I’m not a star (smiles).

Secret of your beauty?
Audiences like to see heroine's as role models. They should look good and glamorous. I take special care of my skin as change in whether, water and cosmetics can do harm if care is not taken. I don't do rigorous exercises but eat very little. I avoid sweets, ice creams and oily stuff.

What do you spend most on?
Well, I am not a spendthrift. I hate buying gold or wearing them. But my latest obsession is platinum rings. Look (showing her beautifully manicured fingers) I have such a good collection of platinum rings.


Favourite Food
I like North Indian food. My dad was in the Air Force and so I did my schooling in the North India, maybe that's why I love it. I don't know cooking, but love to experiment in kitchen. But most of the time, my mom drives me away. I love spicy food too.

Hobbies
That keeps on changing. Right now, it is listening to good melodious music. I love traveling and seeing new places. I love going for long drives too.

Anger
I am very sensitive person. When things don't go my way I get upset and immediately it shows on my face. Is it anger?

Gossips
Gossip itself means 'fake news'. Tell me one actress who does not have any gossip around her? I think we all love to hear and share gossips about others. Even when I was in college I loved to hear gossips about actresses (smiles) and so it is just a part of this profession. I never had any dream of coming into films. But God had something else in store for me. I want to live the way God guides me and do my work sincerely. Nothing really dithers my spirit.

God is my biggest supporter. I am not a fanatic but have a lot of faith and is a God fearing person. All what I am today is due to God

My parents are very friendly with whom I can share anything. My elder brother and family are in Dubai and he is nine years elder to me. I am the pet of my parents but they never pamper me

Nayantara forced to appear glamorous!


The hot and beautiful actress Nayantara plays a glamorous role in her forthcoming film ‘Sathyam’. She performed in a hot manner with Vishal in a song sequence. Ever since the photos of the film were released there has been lot of talk of the onscreen closeness of Nayantara and Vishal. The film is directed by Rajashekar. When press asked him whether the actress was forced to do the glamorous role, the director denied of forcing Nayantara to appear sexy in the film. He said that the story of the film needed the female lead to be glamorous and he made this point very clear when he narrated the story to Nayan. Nayantara plays the role of a daring TV journalist and her relationship with the top cop adds fuel to her investigation as well as the police department’s hunt for the baddies. The film would hit the screens on August 15th in Tamil and Telugu simultaneously.


Nayantara to flag off a bus!


‘Kuselan’ is expected to hit the screens in few days. The film stars Superstar Rajinikanth, Nayantara, Pasupathy and Meena in the lead roles. The team is now gearing up for promoting the film. Recently it was announced that the music director of ‘Kuselan’, G.V. Prakash would be conducting a music concert to promote the music of the film. The latest buzz is that the team is planning to flag off a bus, which is expected to travel in and around Chennai. Nayantara would flag off the bus. The Tamil film ‘Sathyam’ starring Nayantara and Vishal in the lead roles is also being made in Telugu with the title ‘Salute’. Nayantara plays the role of a TV reporter and Vishal plays the role of police officer. ‘Salute’ is produced by Vishal’s brother Vikram Krishna under his banner G.K. Film Corporation. The film is a remake of a Telugu film ‘Aadavari Maatalaku Ardhale Verule' which is directed by Selvaraghavan. After ‘Polladhavan' this is the first release for Dhanush and after ‘Billa' this is the first release for Nayantara. Yuvan Shankar Raja scored the music for the film. The film is confirmed to be released during February.

Yaradi nee mohini movie Review


Director Jawahar has given a good family entertainment for Dhanush in this movie. Nayanthara is really good in this one. Fun filled, little action, little sentimental and a good show by all in crew.
Raghuvaran is a school teacher, whose son is Dhanush who seeks job after his degree for 5 yrs and gets blast from his father everytime. While going to an interview in a software company, he sees Nayan as one of test takers, by whom he gets impressed and with that motive he passes all the tests and joins the company. He loves her very much and wants to tell that to her. But she is behaving friendly as a senior. He tries to tell his love in lot of ways to her (all these scenes are a good comedy, especially the one from Karunas in phone). After some days, they all go to Australia for a project.



Dhanush tells his love to her, while she tells that she is getting married in a month and asks him to forget her. Then they come back and still he loves her. Raghuvaran also goes to office and tell her about his son and their love, and she shouts and sends both of them. That Raghuvaran drinks with his son and in his dreams itself dies. Dhanush is not able to come out of it and is feeling on this all time. His friend tells about his marraige in a month and takes Dhanush with him to forget things as his family is very big and he will forget the things in such huge marraige situation.




While going to his friend's place in train, he finds that Nayan is the bride. He is shocked and tries to forget things, as things are not happening in his way. The family is a big one led by Cheenu's (Dhanush's friend) grand father who is very strict and orthodox brahmin family. Sugumari is another old lady, who always fights with Dhanush for his behavior. Nayan's sister loves Dhanush, which Nayan doesnt like. In meantime, Nayan loves Dhanush and wants his sister to avoid him. When she tries to commit suicide, Dhanush and Nayan consoles her and tell about the adolescent problem. She then gives it up.



Before the marraige night, Nayan comes and tells her love to Dhanush, which Cheenu also sees. He stops the marraige telling the truth and Dhanush tells sorry to everyone and takes Sukumari with him to his in Chennai. After 6 months, the family understands the love between the two and unites them. There ends the good going family entertainer. All galattas in the big family, right from brushing till taking tiffin are all sensible and good comedy count. Overall a family entertainment movie for all.
